Peace Run Torch Handover 2023

Mar 13, 2023

Over eight million people around the world have carried the Sri Chinmoy Peace Run Torch. It has passed through many countries sharing its message of peace and unity with millions across the globe.

The Torch is a powerful reminder that we can all move together to make the world a better place.

Having been carried by a relay of runners from Brisbane, the Sri Chinmoy Peace Run Torch arrived in Canberra this morning.

On this special occasion, the torch was passed to Ngunnawal Runner Mick Mudford who will continue its journey it to the opening ceremony of the Aussie Peace Walk on Friday week.

A team of Indigenous participants from the Indigenous Marthon Foundation will carry the torch in the Aussie Peace Walk, symbolically carrying its message of peace throughout the Peace Walk.

Participants representing the many countries of the Peace Walk are welcome to share the Peace Torch journey by carrying the torch in the Aussie Peace Walk .

The torch handover marks an important connection between the Peace Run and the Peace Walk in our journey toward a more peaceful world.

Ngunnawal runner Mick Mudford accepts the torch at the end of the Australian leg of the world’s largest international Peace Run. Mick will carry the torch to the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Aussie Peace Walk.
