At the Peace Run Closing Ceremony there will be a handover of the Peace Torch to a runner from the Indigenous Marathon Foundation who will bring the torch to the Aussie Peace Walk Opening Ceremony, two weeks later on Friday 24 March 2023.

‘As a humanitarian organisation, peace is a cornerstone Rotary’s mission,’ said Aussie Peace Walk Event Director Chris Edwards.

‘We see this new link between the Peace Run and the Peace Walk as a logical extension of our shared vision and we look forward to working with the Sri Chinmoy organisers in the years ahead.’

If you would like to run with the Torch from Grevillea Park to Acton Park from 7.20am or run or walk 10km or 4km for free from 8am – you can enter online here

The Peace Torch Handover will take place at 9 am on 13 March 2023 in Acton Park, Canberra (near the old ferry terminal).

Over 8 million people have carried the torch through over 160 nations as a symbol of peace and in 2023 the torch will continue its journey in the Aussie Peace Walk.

“Peace Begins with Me”

Having set off from Brisbane on 27 February 2023 on its Australian leg, the Sri Chinmoy International Peace Run is currently following coastal and inland routes and will finish in Canberra on 13 March.

Along the way, the run team will visit schools and community organisations to share their motto, ‘Peace Begins with Me’ and to support the environment the Peace Run will plant and dedicate trees for peace in many of the cities along the route.
